Well the day is here... the begining of my Whole30 journey! I am so ready and wanting to start this. After a week long vacation in Jamaica I am very full, feeling crappy and ready to start eating healthy again. Our trip was awesome! So much fun in the sun, ate amazing food, drank yummy drinks by the ocean all day, stood beside my SIL for her beautiful beach wedding.... it was great.
I have been working myself up to starting this challenge for quite a while now. First my dear friend did this about a year ago. I thought she was crazy. Extreme. I could never give up sugar, dairy and of all things bread!? Well over the past year that is exactly what I have been doing and my body has thanked me because of it. And I saw her change her body, her life, achieve fitness and health goals, plus she looks absolutely amazing. It has been so inspirational for me.....
...So here I am starting my Whole30 and I am going to blog about it to share with you what I am eating, how I am feeling and what results I see at the end of it. Wish me luck!
The stats:
Weight- 173lbs.... up 4 lbs from my vacation :)
Waist- 38.5 inches
Hips- 41.5 inches
Energy- lacking, but I generally feel much better now. The kids are sleeping for the most part so I am feeling much better than I was about 5 months ago.
Brain fog- THICK. I think it is all the crap and sugar I ate last week.... but I really have a thick cloud over my brain right now. It feels like I need more coffee but I think I need less sugar. Looking forward to this lifting soon!
Day one:
Didn't get off to the best start. We had no food and got home later than expected last night so I couldn't do groceries until after breakfast. So I had no protein to eat, no fresh fruit and no coconut milk for my much anticipated coffee! The almond milk was drinkable but not very enjoyable. We went to a natural, local, organic farm this morning. So fun. We got some grassfed beef, free- range eggs and had a great talk with the farmer. It was a bit too expensive for my liking but I loved them and the quality of meat... I may still shop around but it was a good start. BUT I did CHEAT on my first day...... they offered a sample of thier fresh, raw, homemade cheese...... I did try a bite. It was glorious. I wont be cheating again.
Breakfast: Too many sweet potato latkes, with coffee and almond milk. I really missed my eggs. We were running around all morning so I shoved a couple handfuls of cashews in me. 2 litres of water..... I am really trying to flush Jamaica out of me!
Lunch: Big-Ass Salad with chicken, avocado, pickled veggies and Whole30 approved Itallian dressing form Farm Boy. Yum! More water. *I have been challenged to drink SIX of my huge Nalgenes... 192 ounces! I am 3 bottles in..... gotta pee....
I am posting the rest of what I *plan* to eat..... we are busy unpacking/laundry/cleaning/napping and I have my first small group meet at my house tonight..... so I am posting this early.
Dinner: Taco Salad.... my packaged taco seasoning has some weird corn ingridient so I am making my own..... I hope it turns out! I plan to eat mine with avocado, tomato, lettuce and lots of grass fed meat.
Snacks: More coffee with coconut milk, strawberries and banana, almonds....

Thanks for the incredibly flattering shout-out! :) I'm glad my craziness has rubbed off on you a little. Craziness does love company, after all! I'm looking forward to following your journey here - and getting some meal ideas of my own! (But I have to say that already your post makes me miss sweet potatoes! 11 days to go!)
Jac you are awesome.... I had a freak out this morning when I realized that the longest I have ever given up sugar for was 16 days........ I am in for 30 now :)
